Alignment to TEKS and TAKS
The Texas Carnegie Project has utilized the research and work of Dr. Sandra Kaplan at the University of Southern California to identify concrete strategies that can be infused kindergarten through twelfth grade.  These strategies change questioning, utilize thinking and problem-solving, and organize information and planning for teachers and students alike.

TEKS and the Library Connection
The library media specialist plays a vital role in assisting the classroom teacher in attaining the TEKS objectives. TEKS in the Library Program
School Library Programs: Standards and Guidelines for Texas became effective on July 17, 1997. The goal of this revision is to align the School Library Programs: Standards and Guidelines for Texas with additional provisions of the Texas Education Code, the Texas Administrative Code, and national standards for school library programs, and to provide a current tool for evaluating and improving school library programs.
